My handmade paper is made from pampas grass (Cortaderia spp.) which is widely found in coastal California. It is an invasive species from South America. I prefer to use an invasive species because the removal along coastal California is part of my art process. I started using pampas grass to make paper while in school for a restoration ecology class and really like its look as a background for my photographs. I also press different kelp species to compliment the photographs and paper.

The photo to the left is of a sea otter (three different photographs) with pressed giant kelp (Macrocystis pyifera) and handmade paper.

All pieces of art are one of a kind, so images seen here can not be copied exactly, but I can make a mixed media piece with any of the photographs on my site. If you are interested, please send me an email.
